Our Difference

Juan Rando Dance Academy was established in 1995 and was Perth’s first dance studio to promote and develop all areas of alternative Latin dancing. With our own studio in the heart of Subiaco, as well as Perth’s most popular Latin Night Clubs, we have created a learning environment that will suit everyone!
Juan Rando commenced studying Argentine Tango, Salsa and Swing in 1997 and travelled extensively through Argentina and the United States.
Upon returning to Australia in 1998, Juan established three separate dance studios, with three distinct and separate goals. The Tango Salon quickly established itself as Perth’s premier Tango studio with a focus heavily on technique and an academic-like class structure.
In 1999 Juan Rando introduced to Perth both the unique Cuban “Casino” style of Salsa along with its fun “Rueda” learning style. Incorporating good teaching technique and well organised classes, we quickly established Perth’s largest and most professional Salsa Studio. We also introduced Perth’s first Salsa Club, “The Varga Lounge”.
In 2000 we established the Annual Tango Ball to showcase Perth’s Tango dance talent.
2004 saw the establishing of Perth’s first Annual Salsa Ball to showcase local Salsa dance talent.
Studio Based Courses
An 8 week commitment gives you a thorough tuition in the style of your choice. A chance to get to know people with similar interests in an environment that is most constructive to learning. Specific goals are attained at each level contributing to a strong sense of achievement and understanding.
Casual Club Classes
Perth’s most successful and longest established Latin Night, “The Latin Quarter”, upstairs at the Deen Hotel, Northbridge offers casual classes in Cuban Salsa, allowing you to learn through a progression of levels throughout the week, so you may experience the dance at a pace that suits you. These classes are an hour long and are a great compliment to the free social dancing that kicks on after classes til late at night.
Private Tuition
For those who want to take their dancing to a higher level, then one-on-one tuition is the answer. Our full-time studio in Subiaco operates days and evenings; weekdays as well as weekends, with our many teachers available for private lessons as a time that suits you.
Medals
Another first for Juan Rando Dance Academy is the development of a series of levels in each of the styles taught. Corresponding assessments allow a student, should they wish to, to pursue their dancing through a series of assessed levels, giving them feedback on technique and style at each level and goals for improvement.
Performance Team
Got the itch to perform? Then we’ve got something for you! Actively involved in promoting dance in Perth, Juan Rando have several performance teams in each of our specialty styles; from complete Beginner teams to our Professional squad that tours nationally and internationally.
