West Coast Swing
West Coast Swing (WCS) is a partner dance characterised by a distinctive elastic look that results from its basic extension-compression technique of partner connection, and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor.
Within the spectrum of partner dances, WCS is one of the most improvisational. West Coast Swing is traditionally danced to Slow Swing, Blues and similar styles of music. These days, WCS is popularly danced to R&B music. It incorporates many complex turns emphasising a certain “coolness” in the way each person moves. Partners in this style are particularly flirtatious and playful in their interaction with each other.
